Final Animation

Here's the final animation, it is directed at 8-12 year ols and is meant to inspire them to debate about ethics in order to hopefully make them better people. For this animation I used a whiteboard, washable Crayola markers, wipes, 2 tripods, a light, an iphone 3gs 16g with an application on it called 'iTimelapse', I then used AVS convertor to convert the file which was a 'mov' to a 'wmv' file. Once the video was made I recorded the soundtrack on my Iphone with an application called 'Voice Memos', to record myself playing the harmonica to match the video, this was in 'M4a' format which I open in 'Wavepad' cut it to fit then and saved it as a 'wav' file. The next stepwas to open both files in Adobe Premiere Pro, make sure they match and convert them to one movie file, There upload to uTube and post to blog, walah.

Final Production

Firstly I set up the tripod and white board outside, the tripod i bought from Asda for £10 and it's a standard, reasonable quality piece, I tied the white board to the railing because i was quite board... no lol i tied it there to keep it in place with the light shinning on it. then i put my iphone on the iphone tripod fixture which i bought for around £5 on eBay but because i still has the protective case on my iphone in case it fell and tried to make it fit the holder broke but i managed to fix it then realized the the glare of the light from behind was too much to be practical so I decided to move the operation inside.

Above is the tripod with iphone holder screwed on in front of the white board which is tied to the rail, had to make sure the tripod and camera don't block the light.

Done some research looking closer at some of the best animations including The little mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Shrek and Finding Nemo, Studied the flowing movement and their similarities to the real world and how they convey their messages of morality.

Played around with typography, Finally i choose the styles of 'Hobo Std' for right and 'Fixedsys' for wrong both which i found in Photoshop, Hobo Std seemed right as it was relaxed and friendly and Fixedsy's seemed wrong as it was ridged and dangerous looking.

Here I have illustrated people showing the appropriate sins and virtues, as you can see i have clearly laid out the sequence the way I want it to be shown.

I have selected imagery from the previous ideas i was working out and clearly laid  it out in the storyboard format that i created which allows for freedom of expression. I sketched the layout of the expected final submission deliverables including show right and wrong in an understandable visual format.

Developmental work using sketch/draft visualisation techniques which is another idea illustrated to show the message to be communicated.

Used the iPhone app iMotion HD to try a stop motion experiment.

Above. This Hierarchy shows the overall design planning.

Done some sketching to begin with to work out what to do, basically get an idea kind of thing now ya hear.

continued the sketchy work trying to visualise a scenario, looked at the form, line, tone and colour of the characters, landscape etc and began to plan the layout of the story. 

began to solve the problem of how the story unfolds, the function of the animation being to teach about right and wrong could be communicated visually in the allowed space of the page which corresponds to the size of the area on the screen if needs be, but better to draw in horizontal as most screens now are windscreen like the page.

Looked at various typographic styles and how they could be useful in communicating the words 'Right' or 'Wrong' I used green for right as its a colour often associated with healthy stuff and choose red for wrong as its often associated with danger.

More playing around with layout and space. looked at what colour went best with the logos.

Decided to add my own touch to the typography in order to make the message clearer, I added the faces to the type, frown for wrong and smiling for right.

Looked more at the visuals and form and the possible direction of the final design.

My favorite app on the iPhone was 'Timelapse' as it was professional, clearly laid out easy to use and had all the tools needed for making a stop motion animation on the iPhone 3gs some of the technical data includes that it was exported at 10 fps, a resolution of 480x360 and top video quality.
